Welcome to

Moorview Cottage

Moorview Cottage is a granite built converted barn which nestles in a small peaceful hamlet on the western edge of Dartmoor.

Moorview is ideally suited for those wishing to enjoy walking cycling or riding over breathtakingly scenic Dartmoor.  We also have some lovely riverside walks just a stones throw away.

On the moors wild ponies graze alongside with sheep and cattle; it is a walker's dream and offers a real sense of freedom.  All kinds of animals, birds and plants can be found if you walk or sit quietly and watch. Dartmoor is a place where you can leave all your cares and worries behind you and just relax.

Although remote and tranquil, Moorview's location makes Devon and Cornwall, North, South, East or West accessible. The possibilities are limitless and some examples of what we mean are listed under Things to see.  You don't have to travel far from Moorview to have a wonderful time.  You can hire a cycle or fish or just take it easy and read a book, take a stroll to the local pub or a brisk walk over the top of Boulters Tor.

We have two pubs close by serving good local ales and food, both of which have been on the television series "Taste of the West" and both are within walking distance of our cottage.

Our nearest town is Tavistock which is about five miles away, Tavistock is an attractive historic market town, which offers a variety of interesting shops and cafes and has a pannier market which is open most days throughout the year.

No holiday is complete without a traditional "Devonshire cream tea" or enjoy good food at one of the local pubs or restaurants.

Access

There is off road parking for two cars.  From the car, walk up a slight incline on gravel path to the front door of the cottage. You will find 2 steps up into the cottage with a small raised weather board (threshold) into the entrance hall.  Once inside there is a carpeted floor and low beamed ceiling (approximately 6ft 3" high). The cottage layout is one of an upside-down house and all three bedrooms and one shower room are downstairs.  The first room you come to downstairs is the shower room with a small step up into the shower tray. There are two steps of different depths as you come to the main corridor with all bedrooms leading off it.   In order to access the first floor rooms you will need to climb four steps up to a 1/4 landing followed by another seven steps up to a level corridor, which leads to the bathroom W/C. There are a further 2 steps into the lounge area with dining area and separate kitchen all on the same level. The kitchen, shower room and bathroom each have tiled floors, the rest of the cottage is carpeted.
