Moorview Cottage is a granite built converted barn situated in a peaceful hamlet at the foot of White Tor (Whittor) on the western edge of Dartmoor.

Our cottage offers spacious and comfortable self catering holiday accommodation, there are three bedrooms, a king size bedroom, a double bedroom and a single bedroom. The maximum occupancy of the cottage is five. Our cottage can also be rented for just one or two people at reduced rates, please see our Availability and Prices page for further details.  

We have regular visitors who return each year, sometimes more than once, but we also like to welcome guests to our cottage.

Cyclists are welcome - Secure cycle storage can be provided (advance notice is required and we suggest you bring your own padlock. Please be aware that all cycles are left at your own risk.

The cottage is just a couple of minutes cycle ride to Route 27*

Fibre Broadband WiFi is available. 

The holiday cottage is open all year round and guests receive a warm welcome with a traditional Devon cream tea, cake or biscuits on arrival, if you have a preference please let us know when booking.

There are some lovely walks and footpaths that can be enjoyed from the front door of the cottage.

Bed linen and towels are provided.

*Information about Route 27 - The 99 mile Route 27 route combines the beaches and estuaries of North Devon with lush green valleys of West Country rivers.  Many sections of Route 27 are traffic-free and flat, making them ideal for families or less experienced cyclists.  There are other options available for cyclists wanting more of a challenge.


There is plenty of Geocaching locally and Moorview is a great location to explore many new caches

THE LOCAL AREA

If you are looking for an active holiday you can walk directly onto the moors from Moorview Cottage and explore miles of beautiful moorland with Boulters Tor, White Tor and Stephen's Grave nearby.  Locally there are some lovely riverside walks to enjoy.  Horse riding and fishing are available close by. 

Moorview is less than 1 mile from the Sustrans 'Route 27' Cycle path, so don't forget to bring your bikes, or if you prefer cycle hire is available nearby or if you don't want to cycle you can walk or run instead.

For those looking for a more restful break, a walk around the historic market town of Tavistock may interest you with its farmers market, a pannier market, boutique shops, beauty salons, bistros, pubs and cafes.  Beyond Tavistock there are a great selection of Dartmoor pubs, towns and villages to explore. Due to the property's central location most of Devon and Cornwall is easily accessible by car. 

Dartmoor National Park consists of 368 sq miles of wide open spaces, beautiful scenery and plenty of places to visit, Dartmoor Visitor Centre in Princetown is a great place to learn some interesting facts about Dartmoor.

National Trust Properties are dotted all around us, Lydford Gorge which is famous for its White lady Falls and is only 9 miles away, Cotehele Quay is situated on the River Tamar and has some lovely walks through the woods, a must in bluebell season 

For garden lovers there are lots of lovely gardens to visit including The Garden House at Buckland Monachorum, Rosemoor at Great Torrington, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project, Trebah and many more.

We have two local golf courses, one in Tavistock and a more challenging course in Yelverton where non members can play a round or two.

Whatever your interests there is plenty for you to see and do.
